Could have been worse!
we are all lucky that minis are not expensive for parts but they are a bugger to work on! Hopefully you get Ethel back soon and get some happy motoring in her before the winter sets in!

Battery trouble now !. The combination of heated windscreen, headlights and fan in slow moving traffic tipped the battery over the edge , so I went to the local battery/tyre/fitting place.
Confirmed that battery was on the way out. I said '' it's not the standard battery, i've got an uprated battery and alternator due to aircon being fitted''. '' I've only got one listed in my book for a mini cooper, its £65,'' came the reply, not listening to a word i said. So a trip to a second place, who agreed that it wasn't standard but had no stock so recommended me to '' Partco'' and hey presto, they identified the battery as a jap spec that they could order for me the next day...... for £38

I think its Pug 306 batteries fit in the battery box of the Mini and have a higher power rating. Might be worth checking out for next time.

that alarm and clockmust use more power than you think. It wasn't totally dead but there wasn't enough to get a spark. Mind you I had left the radio on too which probably didn't help the ignition process

The same thing happens to mine, its flat within a couple of weeks of it not being used and it doesn't have aircon. What about getting a Motorbike Trickle charger to keep the battery in good nick!? Since I replaced the battery in September I thought it would be a good idea to leave it on trickle charge when I started working on mine back in November. P.S Superb looking Mini.
