The saga's of Ethel (x-reg sports pack)

Its time to start a thread about Ethel,my x-reg John cooper s-works mpi classic, the things that are happening to her.
Her main problem since I got her in Sept has been her heater. I now think i've got to the bottom of the problem, which is an incorrect adjustment of the heater cable, so the valve is slightly open all the time.

She is also currently leaking oil , which as far as I can tell is from the gear linkage ( damn those speed bumps).

Also her wheel alignmentis a bit out with regards to the steering wheel position.

So hopefully i'm taking her to a new garage on Weds to get these things sorted and a sump guard fitted......

watch this space.....

If you have the usual Mini oil leak from the rod gear change linkage then fitting this kit from Minispares gives a longer term cure:-

http://www.minispares.com/Product.as...NGE%20ANTI%20O...
GEARBOX ROD CHANGE ANTI OIL LEAK SEAL KIT
MSSK050

Description
This kit consists of one alloy sleeve with a groove on the outside to locate the O ring, the new "O" ring,a rod seal and a gaiter. To fit the kit simply remove the old gaiter if fitted and then the old oil seal.Fit the sleeve with the "O"ring fitted and slide over the rod into the gearbox. If the car was already fitted with a sleeve, remove old one before replacing and then fit the main seal. The dust cover fits up against the seal to prevent road debris getting at the seal.

Nice mini there!

The Janspeed exhaust makes a lovely note I spend more time listening to my exhaust than the stereo.
