Over the weekend I was able to get Taz out into the daylight to dust him off a bit and mask the rear end for getting the boot sprayed.

A few adjustments have to made to the hi los.

The bodywork will let it down a bit. The paint has started to blister around the areas we got sprayed last year.

We took it back about 6 weeks after we got it sprayed and the guy said the front wings and front panel would need replaced. Although other places said the opposite

When I took the front arches off a few months ago I found out that he hadn't sprayed behind the arches, he had just taped them up and that's where the rust is coming from.

Taz was away for a while getting his boot sprayed and underneath his rear bumper.

In the last couple of weeks I fitted the petrol tank, water bottle, brackets for the boot bench, lights and cabling. I also Lacquered the British racing green under the wheel arches and the underneath of the floor as it was painted with water base paint and there is a good chance it would wash off .

Over the weekend I slowly went through the wiring looms trying to get things working. After a few hours of trail and error I'm only left with window wipers not working.

I've also filled him up with oil, coolant and a few litres of petrol and there are no leaks. Hopefully tomorrow night we can get the timing done and carbs setup if the guy's available to do it, then its just a matter of fitting the boot, bonnet, dash and passenger seat and he should be ready for the road after 5 months of blood, sweat, dead legs, sore heads and the odd tear.

Tip: If your fitting bumpers to your Mini put number plate pads around the brackets for the bolts so it prevents the bumper damaging the paint work and it also leaves a gap for water to get away from under the bumper preventing rust.

Its looking great Hugh

I think the first local Mini/MINI show is the one in Lisburn in May, are you planning on taking the S or the 1380?
or both? ( RKDE has a hidden towbar for the R53 for sale )
