Are you having a laugh?? I'm self employed and in no way work for a MINI dealership?!

I replied to an e-mail from the guy at MINI Park Lane (who now works for the BMW Park Lane garage) and he sent me an e-mail saying:

"At the moment, the New MINI showroom has got 3 exclusive JCW Cooper S’s which are retailing for £44k to celebrate 50 yrs of MINI."

...I was simply forwarding what I had been told.

Perhaps they are their own special editions... I don't know more than has been said BUT, as my JCW came with a huge amount of extras that the garage didn't know about, it wouldn't surprise me if they are actual JCW 50's.

Paranoid much?

The "guy at Park Lane MINI" (to quote your original post) works for a dealership owned by MINI.

As two people that know more about MINI than pretty much anyone else on this site have already said, there are no JCW 50 yet.

There you go then. A completely different massively-overpriced special edition

Nope not paranoid... just doesn't seem like anybody can post anything these days without getting a huge amount of criticism for passing on information.

As it seems there haven't been any JCW 50's produced as yet, perhaps these are the dealership's own special editions. Being Park Lane, I'm sure this is possible, but I assumed it was the JCW 50.

There are no lies here.

If I could have a RR Phantom for £44k then I'd be tempted, but as they are only just slipping under £100k then I'll just wait for the real thing

O.K, so maybe lies was the wrong word. Maybe I should have used 'factually incorrect misinformation'.

But either way I wasn't referring to you, I was referring to the employee of MINI Park Lane.

As Sam has already posted, the cars in question are RR special editions, not JCW 50. The employee of MINI Park Lane should know that, as he is paid to sell them.

That's true lol... saying that though, my JCW came with several hundred pounds worth of extra accessories without it being listed in the price, including the strut brace I found when I opened the bonnet a few hours after buying it

In all fairness though, the guy does work for the BMW wing now so BMWs are more his bag I guess

There are no lies, but you just made a mistake, an assumption, and made it sound like the dealer had lied by doing so.

Your first post said that according to the dealer they "apparently" have 3 X JCW 50 models in their showroom. Which sounded to me like you had been told this by your dealer, but you were even sceptical (hence the "apparently" in your first post).

Turns out though they never told you they were WC50 models anyway, that was your assumption. So we, going only on your word, got the impression the dealer had lied, when in fact you had just made an incorrect assumption and passed it on as though fact. Which you later corrected with your direct quote posted above.

No big deal, no need to get so wound up. You made an assumption, people took your word as gospel and assumed the dealer was telling a whopper...

So you made an assumption, we made assumptions... and now it's all cleared up, so it seems, so no need to get upset, mistakes happen.
