mini expansion in usa
I heard on NPR this morning that mini plans to open 17 more dealerships in the US over the next year. That is GREAT NEWS! There just are not enough dealerships around. Now if they would just make a factory here, that would be the icing on the cake.

More dealerships is a good start.
With the current financial problems, people here will buy more fuel efficient cars, and MINI is the best in that field.

In Sweden they are doing the other way around unfortunately (concentrating the MINIsales to the major cities), but the worst is that they also remove some MINI authorised service and repair in smaller cities available before
![]() A couple of our members (in the far north) in NMCS will have to travel more than 500 km ONE WAY in order to get their MINI looked after by an authorised serviceshop - this will probably cause the demand for MINI in parts of Sweden not close enough to an authorised serviceshop to drop remarkably. |

What they didn't tell you is that there are two dealerships not on that list that are ready this year...
What they didn't tell you is that not all these stores have not yet signed the franchise agreements... The real insight on the future of stores in the USA is that MINI USA has stated to BMW dealers that if they dopn't build stand-alone stores that could cost $8-$12 million, then the franchises could be opoen to non-BMW franchises in their region.
